Deputy Mayor Rosemary Hruby called the council meeting to order on Tuesday February 9, 2021 at 7:01pm. Councillors Green, Smith and Frederick were joined by Mayor Runtz, and five village employees.

Fee & Charges Bylaw
Council passed the motion to prepare a Bylaw to amend Fees & Charges Bylaw 768. Council voted to incorporate a 1% raise for commercial properties and 2% for residential. A 5% discount will be applied to payments made on or before Friday, April 30, 2021.

CN Community Board Stronger Communities Fund
Council passed the motion to direct Administration to prepare a report to recommend eligible projects for an application to CN Community Board’s Stronger Communities Fund. An email from Christy Clark, Chair, to Council, explained that the Board directs funding to smaller, community based organizations across the province, focusing particularly on communities that host CN Rail Infrastructure.

New Homeowner Grant Information
Information item, New Homeowner Grant Application Process generated a bit of discussion between Council members regarding accessibility for those who are not tech savvy. A toll free number 1-888-355-2700 can be used to complete the process over the phone.

Main Street Revitalization Planning Program
Council passed the motion to support an application to Northern Development Initiative Trust from the Main Street Revitalization Planning Program for the McBride Downtown Revitalization Planning Project for $16,000 towards a $32,000 project.

In Camera
Council passed the motion to move to an in Camera meeting for consideration of matters per Section 90 (1) of the Community Charter related to: (c) Labour Relations or other employee relations; (i) the receipt of advice that is subject to solicitor-client privilege, including communications necessary for that purpose; and (k) negotiations and related discussions respecting the proposed provision of a municipal service that are in their preliminary stages and that, in the views of Council, could reasonably be expected to harm the interest of the municipality if they were held in public. The regular meeting adjourned at 7:51pm.
