The McBride Council met for their regular meeting on July 23, 2019. The meeting was called to order at 7:02pm by Mayor Gene Runtz. Also in attendance were Councillors Frederick, Smith, Green and Hruby.

Council passed a motion to approve entering into a grant agreement with the Ministry of Transportation and Infrastructure for the BC AIR Access Program Grant, and further authorizes Mayor Runtz to execute the agreement. Councillor Green stepped away from the table on this motion as she is an employee of the Ministry of Transportation.

Council passed the motion authorizing Administration to provide the Robson Valley Backcountry Horsemen of BC with a letter of support for their application to the Rural Dividend Fund for 2020 Bell Mountain Multi-use trail network and Rustic \Equine Campground Phase 3 Project.

Also, Council approved the motion to donate $75.00 towards purchasing a prize for the Robson Valley Back Country Horsemen of British Columbia’s 8th Annual Fundraising Poker Ride to be held on September 14th, 2019.

Council passed a motion to adopt the Emergency Program Amendment Bylaw No, 789, 2019 as presented.

Council passed a motion directing Administration to request a meeting with BC Hydro at the 2019 UBCM Convention. Administration has been directed to review council’s already scheduled commitments at the event before scheduling the meeting.

Emergency Management Committee consists of the Mayor and two Councillors.
Nominations: Councillors Frederick & Smith
Motion that appoints Mayor Runtz, Councillors Frederick and Smith to the Village of McBride Emergency Management Committee was approved by Council.

Federation of Canadian Municipalities Partners for Climate Protection Program. The role for a Councillor, as the lead contacts with PCP, is purely administrative, and minimal at that. Past experience with the program has been that the FCM uses the two direct community contacts as recipients of the milestone achievement letters for invitations to PCP related events in some cases, and for their own program database.

Council approved the motion to appoint Councillor Green to the Federation of Canadian Municipalities Partners for Climate Protection Program.

McBride and District Housing Society
Nominations: Councillor Green
Council approves the appointment of Councillor Green to the McBride and District Housing Society.

McBride Broadband Select Committee
Nominations: Councillor Hruby declined nomination, Councillor Frederick
Council approves the motion to appoint Councillor Frederick to the McBride Broadband Select Committee.

Council passed the motion that in accordance with Section 90(l) (c) labour relations and other employee relations, and (i) the receipt of advice that is subject to solicitor-client privilege, including communications necessary for that purpose, to move into a closed In-Camera meeting, and recess the Open Meeting at 7:23pm.

Council adjourned the public portion of the evening at 7:53pm to move into the In-Camera session.
