The long awaited by-election to fill the empty councillor seat in McBride will be held on Saturday September 30th. The seat has been empty since Councillor Diane Smith resigned on Tuesday January 24, 2023.

The Village office will be providing nomination forms beginning at 9:00am on August 8th, and will be accepting completed nominations between 9:00am Tuesday August 15th to 4:00pm Friday August 25th. Nominations can be hand-delivered, mailed, emailed or faxed. Any nominations that have been faxed or emailed must be followed by the original document by 4:00pm Friday September 1st.  

In order to be eligible to hold the position of village councillor, and individual must be a Canadian Citizen, 18-years or older on general voting day (September 30th), a resident of BC for a minimum of six months immediately before the day nomination papers are filed and not be disqualified under the Local Government Act or any other enactment from voting in an election in BC, or being nominated for, being elected to or holding the office, or be otherwise disqualified by law.

Each candidate will be responsible for covering all their own campaign period expenses and third party advertising adhering to maximum amounts set in accordance with the Local Elections Campaign Financing Act. 

Advance Voting will be held on Wednesday September 20th, and general election day on Saturday September 30th.
