The McBride and District Hospital Auxiliary will be hosting its annual strawberry shortcake social again this year.

“The auxiliary feels it is a good way to get a true taste of spring” says Eleanor Johnson who is a long time member of the auxiliary.

This year’s social will be held at the Evangelical Free Church 135 Lonsdale, McBride on May 27th between 11am and 2pm.

You can pre-order from Pat Elliot at AG Foods in McBride or call her at 250-569-7521 or stop by the Evangelical Free Church on the day of the event where a tea, coffee, or cold drink will be offered and you can sit and enjoy the company.

A serving of cake with strawberries and whipped cream is offered for $7.

All proceeds go towards purchasing equipment for the McBride hospital and ambulance services.

The auxiliary would like to thank Gary and Wendy Lowe who have provided the whipping cream in the past, Robert Johnson of Real Tree Wood Products who has contributed the strawberries for the past couple years and will continue to do so again this year.

All cakes are made by the auxiliary members.

Deliveries of the sweet treats have been made possible due to Mike Moseley, Rick Thompson, and Allan Frederick who have delivered orders to the community in the past with their own transportation.

“The auxiliary is looking forward to holding the strawberry social again this year as it is one of our larger fundraisers,” said Sandra James.

Ongoing fundraisers for the auxiliary are donations in memoriam and the Christmas fundraiser. Plans for other fundraisers are in the works.

New members are always welcomed and the auxiliary would also like to thank the community for their ongoing support and look forward to seeing everyone at the strawberry social in person again.
