The streets of McBride were lined with snowmobiles over the weekend as the sledding season got underway. Trails on Belle and Lucille were groomed in anticipation of the arrival of enthusiasts at the trailheads. The snow was not low enough on the Renshaw to allow grooming equipment to access the trails. Riders took to the hills for their first run of the year on sleds ranging from modern to vintage and X Games Freestyle Champion Brett Turcotte practiced his aerial skills after a year off due to injury.

The pass hut on Lucille sold approximately 250 passes and Belle sold 80 on Saturday as sledders eagerly raced to make tracks in the new snow.
