A tractor-trailer unit rolled over on Hwy 5 near the Tete Jaune Access Road and caught fire on October 31.

The RCMP report the driver had swerved to avoid a deer and the vehicle got caught in the soft shoulder and rolled in to the ditch, where it caught fire. The driver escaped uninjured.

Valemount Fire Chief Rick Lalonde told the Goat the incident happened around 5:50 am. The area is outside the Valemount Fire Protection area, but five members in one truck attended the scene and put out the fire in the tractor section. The trailer, carrying a load of cardboard was allowed to burn out.
