MP Bob Zimmer visited with Chris and Elaine Robson and several other community members during a “Meet your MP for coffee” event held on July 19th in McBride. Following his chats with residents in McBride, he continued his tour of the riding, with a session in Valemount. Residents took the opportunity to speak with MP Zimmer about carbon tax and how inflation is affecting people, plans for a recovery centre, discontentment with the current prime minster and sealcoating. He talked with one regarding climate change, specifically forest fires. MP Zimmer said he is working towards better forest management and gave the example of the need to remove beetle kill. He also met with Valemount Mayor Owen Torgerson and Village manager to discuss the many projects going on within the community and how they are preparing for more growth.“ McBride and Valemount are the twin gems of the BC Rockies,” said Zimmer. “People are starting to realize that.” /ANDREA ARNOLD
