Latest draw-up for new seniors residence

The latest drawings for the planned new seniors residence were on display last week, and planners asked for more feedback on the designs. The building will have 16 one-bedroom units and two two-bedroom units. Recent updates to the plans include bright colours for each individual unit, indoor storage, a sloped roof (instead of flat), exposed wood trusses in the dining room, updating unit layouts so doors are not directly across from one another, and blocking in all units for ceiling lifts in bedrooms. /GRAPHIC COURTESY DAVID NAIRNE AND ASSOCIATES & VALEMOUNT SENIOR CITIZENS HOUSING SOCIETY
The plans boast both indoor and outdoor access in every unit, including a shared communal courtyard. The large corridors are designed to facilitate visiting with neighbors in the hallways. The building also includes a shared dining room and flex room for things such as visiting medical/wellness appointments. /GRAPHIC COURTESY DAVID NAIRNE AND ASSOCIATES & VALEMOUNT SENIOR CITIZENS HOUSING SOCIETY
