Shelly Ryan is getting some mares and foals ready for their upcoming photo shoot as some of these young ones will be advertised for sale. This young foal with its carefree nature is enjoying the sunshine while exploring his pasture yet never leaving mom far behind or out of sight. Mares and foals bond very quickly. Much of their communication is almost imperceptible to the human eye. By the time foals are about 10 days old, they’ll start to eat a bit of grass and hay. By two months, the foal will need more nutrition than mare’s milk alone can provide. The word foals is believed to be a play on words, which is taken from the etymology of frontman Yannis’ surname. Philippakis is a Greek name, which is derived from philo, which means ‘to love’ or ‘to like’ and ‘hippos,’ which means horse. /SANDRA JAMESA painted mare with her foal enjoying the sunshine together wandering around exploring their pasture. /SANDRA JAMESRelated Posts:Allergy season horse migrationEditorial: The wicked nature of natureGardening with kidsCollateral DamageTragic car accident in McBride claims one lifePost navigationInvading the invasivesRCMP don’t believe community at risk after incident
