Underwriter Insurance Brokers has donated $500 each to four local organizations and they hope to inspire other businesses to give back too. Underwriters employee Angela Balon said they had heard local groups were struggling to keep things running, with COVID restrictions making fundraising difficult, and they felt it was important to help. “This is our first time doing this kind of a donation,” she said. “We had previously helped out with the bike rodeo and other events.” They looked into which groups were the most needy, and they chose four: the Valemount Food Bank, Valemount Meals on Wheels, Valemount Secondary Parent Advisory Council (PAC) and the Valemount Elementary School PAC. Balon said each group will decide on their own what the money will be used for.
