McBride Council met for their regular meeting Tuesday Nov. 26th. The meeting was called to order at 7:04pm by Mayor Runtz. Council members Lucille Green, Diane Smith, Rosemary Hruby and CAO Sheila McCutcheon were present. Councillor Alan Frederick was unable to attend.

Council passed a motion to receive a letter from the Honourable Katrine Conroy, Minister of Children and Family Development. The letter was a letter of thanks for their meeting during the 2019 UBCM Convention, where they discussed recent childcare pace creating funding increases and how small communities can benefit. Administration is working with Michelle Kirby and will follow up with AiMHi.

Council passed a motion supporting the lighting of the trees in Steve Kolida Park for the Annual Festival of Lights Parade on November 29, 2019. This year the Village has a surprise addition to the festivities: solar lights on some trees on Main St. Also discussed was the need for sanding to allow safe footing for horse-pulled rides during the evening.

Council passed a motion to cover expenses for Councillor Smith to attend the 2020 Council of Forest Industries Convention, April 1-3, 2020 in Prince George. Council has been given a complimentary registration and one-night accommodation. The purpose of this motion is to cover added expense. The McBride Community Forest (MCFC) will cover expenses for Councillor Green to attend as an MCFC board member.

Council moved into the in-camera portion in accordance with Section 90(l) (c ) labour relations and other employee relations, (i) the receipt of advice that is subject to solicitor-client privilege, including communications necessary for that purpose, (k) negotiations and related discussions respecting the proposed provision of a municipal service that are in the preliminary states and that, in the view of Council, could reasonably be expected to harm the interests of the municipality if they were held in public.

The regular open meeting was recessed at 7:23 p.m.
