Fingerprinting for kids

Valemount Lions Easter Egg Hunt 2015 (13)

By: Korie Marshall

Jordan Abernathy got fingerprinted by Eric and Elsie Buck from the Valemount chapter of Crime Stoppers. Jordan’s mom and dad Charlotte and Ken will keep the fingerprints. Crime Stoppers offered the service free of charge to any parents at the Lions Club’s Easter Egg hunt this year, and will offer it again if there is more demand. The RCMP provided the ink and cards, and initial training, but are not involved in the fingerprinting. No records are kept except the parents get to take the card home with their child’s fingerprints, hopefully never to be used except as a souvenir.
