Shirley Bond Prince George-Valemount McBride Election 2013

Prince George-Valemount MLA Shirley Bond was announced today as the new Minister of Jobs, Tourism and Skills Training. Prior to the election Bond was Minister of Justice and Attorney General which has been turned over to MLA Suzanne Anton.

Reporting to Bond, is Naomi Yamamoto, the Minister of State for Tourism and Small Business.

The Ministry of Jobs, Tourism and Skills Training (formerly Ministry of Jobs, Tourism and Innovation) was recently held by former Prince George-Mackenzie MLA Pat Bell, who did not run for re-election.

Bond has held a cabinet position since she was first elected to provincial office in 2001. She has held a number of portfolios during her years in cabinet, including health and education.

Other northern/interior MLAs with cabinet posts include John Rustad (Nechako Lakes) as Minister of Aboriginal Relations and Reconciliation; Pat Pimm (Peace River North) as Minister of Agriculture; Coralee Oakes (Cariboo North) as the Minister of Community, Sport and Cultural Development; and Terry Lake (Kamloops-North Thompson) as Minister of Health.

Premier Christy Clark named several new ministries such as the Ministry of Technology, Innovation and Citizens’ Services and a new ministry for natural gas.
