On Tuesday July 22nd, a motorcycle was observed to be travelling at a high rate of speed on Highway 5 in Valemount. The motorcycle was clocked at a speed of 155km/h in the posted 100km/h zone. The driver was issued a Violation Ticket for Excessive Speeding and had his motorcycle impounded for 7 days.

On Wednesday July 23rd a vehicle travelling on Highway 5 near Valemount was stopped for speeding. Investigation revealed that the driver did not hold a valid driver’s licence and was suspended from operating a motor vehicle. A small amount of marihuana was located in seized as part of the investigation. The vehicle was towed and the driver was released from custody and charges are being recommended for driving while suspended.

On Saturday July 26th a report was made to the Valemount RCMP that sometime overnight a black tonneau cover was stolen off the back of a pickup truck on 3th avenue. If anyone has information regarding this theft please contact the Valemount RCMP of Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.

On Sunday July 27th, a vehicle was observed to be travelling at a high rate of speed on Highway 5 near the Best Western in Valemount and passing cars unsafely. The car was clocked at a speed of 126km/h in the posted 70km/h zone. The driver was issued a Violation Ticket for Excessive Speeding and had his vehicle impounded for 7 days.

On Sunday July 27th the McBride RCMP attended to a collision involving a car versus moose on Highway 16 east of McBride. The two occupants suffered minor injuries after hitting the moose and driving off road into the ditch. Both occupants were treated at the Valemount Medical Clinic before being released. The vehicle was destroyed and the moose was located deceased on the highway.
