On November 27th McBride RCMP stopped a Ford Super-duty truck for speeding East of McBride. The driver was issued a $196 speed ticket and was warned that he was approaching the threshold for having his vehicle impounded for excessive speed. Approximately 30 minutes later, the same vehicle was stopped for travelling at an excessive rate of speed, West of McBride. The same driver was issued a $368 violation ticket for excessive speed and had his company truck impounded for 7 days.

Over the last week, Robson Valley has begun its annual holiday traffic enforcement campaign with pop-up check stops around the valley. The first annual “candy cane” check stop was held south of Valemount on Saturday night with approximately 300 drivers checked for sobriety. Two roadside breath demands were made, however the drivers provided samples within legal limits. Two drivers were issued violation tickets for no driver’s licenses, and four notice and orders were issued for vehicle defects and one ticket was issued for open liquor in a motor vehicle.

RCMP would like to remind everyone to plan ahead and arrange a safe ride home this holiday season.
