Last week, The Goat ran an article on the Valemount IGA’s impending transition to a corporate store that has caused some unintended consequences since its publication.
I wish to offer my sincerest apologies to those who read the article and felt unfairly criticized by the words within it.
The story contained overgeneralizations and a lack of context on the situation.
As a journalist, one tries their best to supply the public with balanced stories that inform residents about the happenings in their community and in this situation, I missed the mark.
The intention of the article was to inform the public of the issues that have arisen since the store’s current owners took over the location, but I didn’t execute this properly and I appreciate the feedback The Goat received informing us of this.
I want to recognize the hard work and dedication of those employed at the store who serve the community. Thank you for all that you do.
