A couple in McBride were in for quite a surprise recently as they returned home from a trip. At first they thought it was a person wandering through their backyard, however upon having another look they both noticed two eyes staring back at them and then realized this was a black bear instead. The bear had found and knocked over some bird seed, however when seeing both residents upon their return home it quickly scampered up a tree leaving behind the evidence of his sharp claws, also leaving a bunch of scat at the bottom of the tree. The home owners said “the bear looked quite healthy and well fed” and guessed it to be younger, probably around approximately three years old. It stayed in the tree for some time and decided to make its way down during the evening. / SANDRA JAMES
