Valemount’s usual variety of restaurants is pared down this fall as several businesses take a break in operations.

The Swiss Bakery closed Sept 3rd for repairs, maintenance and a vacation and is slated to re-open Oct. 3rd. On Sept 11th, Scooters announced it was also taking a break until Oct 13th. A&W closed last week for renovations until late September. In October the Caribou Grill intends to close for two months (likely from October 4th until the end of November, according to the owners).

Other restaurants have pared back their hours, many due to ongoing staff shortages that continue to affect the region due to limited housing options and a tight labour pool, partly attributed to Trans Mountain pipeline construction.
