A local man found in tough shape in a back alley in Valemount is alive and recovering in hospital according to a source.

“This investigation is active and ongoing,” said Madonna Saunderson, Media Relations for North District RCMP. “The victim remains in hospital and due to privacy reasons we cannot comment on his condition or details on his injuries.”

She said they encourage anyone with any information on this matter to call the Valemount RCMP.

On Friday July 10th at 2:45pm RCMP responded to an injured man behind a Cranberry Place residence. The 64-year-old Valemount resident was taken to hospital where he remained in critical condition for weeks.

A source close to the man said he was beaten so badly his son couldn’t recognize him.
