The Regional District of Fraser-Fort George is asking residents to comply with their evacuation order issued on July 4, 2020. It remains in effect as of Sunday, July 5.

The evacuation order area is shown on the attached map.

“All residents must comply with the evacuation order and are to leave this unstable area immediately,” said Hilary Erasmus, a Public Information Officer for the Regional District.

Erasmus said that the Ministry of Transportation and Infrastructure are conducting daily geotechnical assessments and have observed unstable slopes on Willox Creek.

“They advise that more debris events are probable and that it is imperative that residents stay out of the evacuation order area,” said Erasmus.

The ministry hasn’t yet provided an estimated time of re-opening of Mountain View Road.

“The Regional District continues to work with the Ministry of Transportation and Infrastructure, Emergency Management BC and other Ministries to ensure the safety of all area residents, and will be providing further updates as the situation evolves.”

An evacuation order is still in place for these nine residents as of July 5, 2020 8:30 pm.
