There are changes are coming, here at the newspaper and more broadly for Valemount. There is a municipal election coming this October.
I will be running for political office in Valemount, either as mayor, a post I held in 2011 until 2014 or possibly for council. In the relatively short lead up to the election on October 20th I will not be covering Valemount council and related stories.
In my term as editor so far I’ve tried to keep a fair distance from Valemount politics. That will continue to an even greater degree. During the election period I will cease my position as editor.
It seems like Valemount is poised for change and I hope this election cycle brings out a great debate about the future of the community and the best way forward. I also hope it brings out some great candidates.
