The McBride Community Forest Corporation is only going to break even in 2015. And questions about who should sit on the corporation’s board, and whether they should be appointed or elected, remain unresolved.

At a tense, well-attended meeting at the community hall on Monday evening, General Manager Marc Von Der Gonna spoke about the finances of the Corporation. And Mayor Loranne Martin, who serves on the Corporation’s board, spoke about its governing structure.

The meeting ran for about an hour, and included an occasionally hostile question and answer period. Attendees asked about the upkeep of logging roads used for recreation, about the Corporation’s plans to expand its territory, and about confidentiality concerns, among other things.

Stay tuned to the Goat for more stories on these issues!
