The Valemount Legion Branch #266 is celebrating Canada’s 150th birthday in style.

On Saturday, Jun. 24 the Legion welcomed its newest members including Dianne St. Jean, Carol Bustin, Silvio Gislimberti and Wally Fontaine.

On the same day, the Valemount Legion awarded some local students with contest prizes.

Earlier in the month, students were asked to complete trivia questions regarding Canada and its 150th birthday, including questions pertaining to geography, history, culture, etc. The winner of the contest — one from the elementary school and one from the secondary school — were to be awarded cash from Branch #266.

However, Isabella Woroshelo and Shae-Lynn Carlson ended up in a tie at the secondary school, ultimately splitting the $150 prize at $75 each.

At the elementary school, Payton Voth took home $50.
