The Valemount Marina held its 44th Fishing Derby on August 30th & 31st. Organizers say 199 participants cast their lines over that weekend for a chance to win fabulous prizes and bragging rights. The event also featured a silent auction and a 50/50 draw.
The youngest fisherboy at this year’s derby was 18-day-old Milo, who will need a while to grow into his new fishing rod. Youngest fishergirl was four-month-old Everen (not pictured). /Spencer Hall
Young Riley dominated the six years and under category this year with the largest caught rainbow trout, kokanee, and aggregate scores. She’s even more equipped for victory in next year’s derby after being presented with multiple fishing rods for her wins by Valemount Marina Association President Vince Clark. /Spencer Hall
