RCMP investigating death, assault in Valemount

An assault in a Valemount home on the evening of Tuesday, August 26th has left one person dead and another in critical condition.

In a press release published the morning of August 28th, North District Media Relations Officer Madonna Saunderson said the North District’s Major Crime Unit is investigating the incident.

“Valemount RCMP responded to a report of an assault at a residence on Pine Rd. in Valemount, BC,” Saunderson said in the release. “A female and a male were located at the residence with serious injuries and were transported to the Valemount Health Centre. The male died shortly after.”

Investigators say there is no ongoing threat to the community. The RCMP declined to provide further details as the investigation is ongoing. 

“Police are not releasing further information to protect the integrity of the investigation,” Saunderson said via press release.
