BC Hydro has restored power to the Crescent Spur area after a fallen tree caused a blackout at 6:02 p.m. the evening prior, on Wednesday, July 9th.

The outage – which spanned from Dome Creek to just north of McBride and affected 146 people – was caused by a fallen tree, according to Stakeholder Engagement Advisor Kate O’Neil.

In an email to The Goat, O’Neil said a BC Hydro crew came to the site the morning of July 10th and found what she described as extensive damage. That included damaged cross arms – the supporting structure for power lines – as well as damage to the power lines themselves.

“Due to the challenging terrain, the crew could not get a bucket truck near enough and had to climb to access the damaged structures,” she added.

Power was restored at 9:30 p.m.Thursday night.
