McBride Show ‘n Shine set for June
By Andrea Arnold
Plans are underway for what organizer Chuck Rollinson hopes is the first annual McBride Show ‘n Shine full day event.
On June 21st, automotive enthusiasts of all ages are invited to gather at Steve Kolida Park. Rollinson has been working on the day’s events in partnership with the BC DragIT race that will be held at the Charlie Leake Airport on June 22nd.
“Everyone is encouraged to bring their vehicles out, even if they are a work in progress,” he said.
“This is a family friendly based fun filled event focusing on road safety programs, children’s activities and non-profit societies awareness and membership drives,” said Rollinson.
He has spoken to several organizations and invites any that he has missed to contact him if they want to be involved.
Beginning at 10:00 A.M with an official opening ceremony, the scheduled fun includes a free BBQ (donations for local food bank accepted), kids games, musical performers, community organization displays and the line up of sparkling automobiles.
A parade of the participating vehicles, in addition to those that are racing in the BC DragIT Challenge (if they arrive in time), are invited to participate in a parade that will travel around town at 7:00 P.M., including the hospital, allowing those unable to attend to be included in the day.
Rollinson would like to see a regular increase in community involvement from all ages to help increase the number of visitors to the area.
“I strongly believe that we need to not only provide more entertainment for the residents of the valley, but must attract outside visitors and much needed outside revenue based on tourism,” he said. “My way of thinking is let’s pool these volunteers and work to help each other out to help build better stronger vibrant communities.”
