The Regional District of Fraser-Fort George announced Monday it has selected current General Manager of Finance, Chris Calder as the District’s new Chief Administrative Officer.

Calder will take over the CAO role from Jim Martin, who has served as the District’s CAO since 2007 and has worked with the RDFFG since 1994.

Calder has worked with the RDFFG since 2018, serving as the General Manager of Finance since 2018. Before working with the District, Calder worked for the Prince George office of KPMG — a multinational accounting firm that provides audit, tax and advising services.

District Board Chair Lara Beckett said the Board looks forward to working with Calder as he moves into his new role.

“Over the past five and a half years, Chris has demonstrated strong leadership and an exceptional understanding of the financial challenges facing the Regional District.  We look forward to working with him and we know there is a strong team supporting him,” Beckett said.

Calder said he looks forward to working with the Board, staff and communities in the District to advance the District’s strategic priorities, which include contributing to the region’s economic strength, fostering relationships with Indigenous communities, building an understanding of climate change and supporting strategies that promote climate change adaptation and mitigation.

Once he starts as CAO for the District, Calder will supervise all aspects of RDFFG operations, which includes managing almost a hundred staff members and the provision of over 90 different local government services within the RDFFG.

“I am excited for the opportunity to lead the amazing team at the Regional District,” Calder said.

Calder starts his new role on January 2nd, 2024.
