Religion is not based on the concept of the Golden Rule.
The basis of religion is “I believe that your soul is going to suffer for eternity and mine is going to be rewarded with bliss for eternity” … or … “Your soul is going to have to reincarnate many more times into new bodies on earth before it can be anywhere near as enlightened as is my soul.”
The Golden Rule is based on treating others as you want to be treated.
Religion does not accomplish that mission.
