In an effort to better keep the community informed the Robson Valley Regional RCMP will be providing weekly press releases to the local papers. The list is not inclusive of all calls of service the local RCMP detachments receive.

On March 23, Valemount RCMP was alerted to an injured sledder in the Allen Creek area by British Columbia Ambulance Service. The sledder apparently sustained a serious head injury and was being combative toward the call taker on the telephone. An officer from the Valemount detachment along with members from McBride SAR attended to Allen Creek via helicopter, at which time a young adult male from Alberta was found to have collided into a tree after high-marking way beyond his capabilities. After being carried down a 500 foot slope by RCMP and SAR personnel, he was quickly rushed to the Valemount Health Center where he was treated for his injuries which were not life-threatening.

During the evening of March 29, RCMP officers from both McBride and Valemount responded to a possible break and enter in progress at a private residence along 2nd Avenue in McBride. The complainant was suddenly startled when she heard voices coming from inside her house. Fearing that someone broke in, she immediately called 911 at which time police arrived on scene to find fresh footprints leaving the property. Police remind residents to make sure the doors to their residence or vehicles are locked when necessary. Anyone with information regarding this incident is asked to contact Cst. Pete Berndsen at (250)569-2255.
