RDFFG “indefinitely” postpones ice installation

Arena floors in Valemount and McBride will be bare for the foreseeable future as the Regional District of Fraser-Fort George announced Wednesday it is indefinitely postponing ice making and installation at both the Canoe Valley and Robson Valley Recreation Centres.
The District said the move is due to uncertainty from potential job action from CUPE 1699, the union that represents RDFFG employees.
“We apologize for the impact this has on residents and thank you for your patience,” the District said in a social media post.
It added the activities currently available on the arena floor such as pickleball, ball hockey, and rollerblading will continue until further notice.
This is a developing story and may be updated as more information becomes available.
