Campfire ban ends for Robson Valley

The BC Wildfire Service (BCWS) has rescinded the campfire ban in the Robson Valley as of September 23rd.
The area is still subject to category two and three fire bans, meaning fires cannot be bigger than half a meter wide by half a meter tall. Additionally, tiki torches, fireworks, binary exploding targets, and outdoor stoves without a CSA or ULC rating are banned.

The campfire ban was put in place on September 8th due to hot and dry conditions forecasted to persist well into September alongside frequent thunderstorms.
“Although fire danger ratings have dropped due to recent rainfall and cooler temperatures, the public is reminded to still exercise caution,” the BCWS announcement reads. “Avoid having a campfire when it’s windy, choose a proper fire pit or make a ring of rocks at least three metres from trees, shrubs, structures and debris, and do not leave a campfire unattended for any amount of time.”
The category two and three bans are expected to remain in place until noon on October 15th, or until the order is rescinded.
