McBride RCMP Report: April 2025

In the month of April the McBride RCMP responded to 38 calls for service. Many were traffic-related and the McBride RCMP would like to remind everyone to stay alert on the roads for the various wildlife that are waking up and appearing more frequently along the ditches and highway with the warmer weather.

On April 7th, 2025 McBride RCMP responded to a report of ongoing theft/shoplifting from a local store. The store owner provided police with video evidence of a male repeatedly stealing items from the store over a period of several months. The male has been arrested and charges are being forwarded to Crown Counsel. 

On April 15th, 2025 multiple people reported a structure fire at an address on Museum Road.  This occurred at a time during an unexpected Telus outage leaving many in McBride and the surrounding area with no cellular service or WiFi to call 911. Several local community members quickly tracked down a land line phone to call 911.  A dwelling unit on the property became engulfed in flames after the fire in the burn barrel got away from the occupant.  The McBride Volunteer Fire Department attended and were able to put the fire out before it spread to any other structures. Thankfully no one was injured as a result of the fire.   

Over the Easter weekend Cpl. Barrie engaged with several youth in the community to record the fastest speed while on a bicycle.  Cpl. Barrie used a Laser to record speeds. The top speed on the bicycle. The fastest recorded speed on a bicycle was 37 km/hr sustained for a short distance. Special attention was paid to traffic safety for any vehicle traffic near the area and all the kids involved were wearing helmets for this event.
