Village of McBride institutes boil water advisory

McBride is under a boil water notice as of Monday evening. Additionally, the Village of McBride has also issued a water conservation notice.
The Village issued the notice after consulting with Northern Health, The notice was prompted by high turbidity in Dominion Creek, which makes it difficult to filter and clean the village’s drinking water.
Residents should use bottled water or bring water to a rapid rolling boil for one minute, then let it cool before using it, according to Northern Health.
During the notice, residents should not use tap water for drinking, cooking or cleaning before it has been boiled, even if they have a water filtration device installed.
Adults and teenagers may take baths or shower with untreated water, and older children may shower with a hand-held showerhead directed away from the face to avoid swallowing water. Northern Health recommends giving young children a sponge bath instead of bathing in a tub to reduce the risk of swallowing untreated water.
Residents should not brush their teeth with untreated water during a boil water notice, Northern Health says.
The advisories are in effect immediately until further notice.
