Into the Wild with Leon Lorenz

Patience and perseverance pays off for this great gray owl as it caught what appears to be a white-footed mouse. When the owl left its tree perch it silently flew directly towards me then suddenly dropped into the snow about 40 feet away and fished around with its feet under the snow for nearly a minute until the capture. It then reached down to transfer the still wiggling mouse from talons to beak. /Leon Lorenz
