To rhubarb (also known as “to go into the rhubarb”) is to go off the road, often downhill, and perilously, as in “He rhubarb’d her!” describing someone taking their vehicle off the road and into the ditch. This is a relatively uncommon phrase, though it is shared by residents outside the valley, especially rural Western Canadians or those who grew up there.
