The new interpretive signs at George Hicks Park are up. They’re more informative than ever, and include a short biography of the man for whom the park is named, and a map detailing the territories of the Simpcw First Nation.

Sadly, warnings about disturbing the nesting Chinook salmon have had to be made both more numerous and more specific: sightseers attracted by the seasonal spawning are welcomed by the town, but their attentions may also be the undoing of the famous fish if public education about them isn’t seriously improved.
