While on their way home from the annual trip to Victoria, the Gr. 6 class at Valemount Elementary School had an unplanned and traumatic experience – their bus was reportedly pinned between a semi-trailer and the the highway guardrail.

Sources say there were no injuries immediately reported, though at least one student sustained a minor injury he didn’t want to report until he got home to his parents.

The Valemount Community Bus however, which was rented for the excursion, was not drivable, and may be written off, leaving the community without a bus for extracurricular activities. Teachers and parents on the trip were reportedly driven back into the city by RCMP to pick up three rental vehicles to bring the kids home.
