If someone in Valemount tells you they’re “going down the lake” this weekend, there’s no need to ask which lake if you’re a local. By ‘lake’ they’re actually referring to Kinbasket Reservoir. In the spring, “going down the lake” may not involve any water at all if the water level is low. It’s also a great place to camp or have a campfire. The Kinbasket Reservoir is more than 200km long and reaches full pool during the summer months. It is used by fishers, campers, boaters, swimmers, ATVers and hunters.
