In an effort to better keep the community informed the Robson Valley Regional RCMP will be providing weekly press releases to the local papers. The list is not inclusive of all calls of service the local RCMP detachments receive, but provides a cross section of what is happening in the Robson Valley.

On December 30, 2013 Valemount RCMP responded to a report of a single vehicle roll over on Hwy 16 near the Alberta border. Neither of the Alberta occupants was injured in the crash. Both were transported to Jasper by RCMP.

On December 30, 2013 McBride RCMP received a report of vandalism at a local hotel. The owner advised that guests had damaged one of the rooms. McBride RCMP was able to make contact with the patrons who agreed to pay for the damages they caused. As the matter was resolved civilly no criminal charges are being pursued.

On December 30, 2014 McBride RCMP attended a report of mischief at the Centennial School. Vandals had spray painted some doors orange. Anyone with information is asked to contact the McBride RCMP or contact Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.

On December 31, 2013 Valemount and McBride RCMP conducted several counter attack road checks for impaired drivers. All vehicles checked had sober designated drivers. Several walk-throughs of the dances in the two communities were also conducted and no issues were noted.

On December 31, 2013 Valemount RCMP stopped a tractor trailer unit and determined the driver did not have the required log book history. The driver was issued a violation ticket and taken out of service for 8 hours to ensure he was safe to be driving on the highway.

On January 1, 2014 Valemount RCMP received a 911 call about a disturbance at a local residence. Police attended and the parties involved had already separated and gone their separate ways. Neither party wished to pursue charges against the other. Alcohol was a factor.

On January 1, 2014 Valemount RCMP were called to a report of a domestic dispute. An argument had turned physical. The male, a 41-year-old Valemount resident was located and arrested for assault and later released on conditions. He is scheduled to appear in Court in March.

On January 1, 2014 Valemount RCMP was at a residence dealing with a matter when a 31 year old Alberta male began yelling and swearing at police. The male was subsequently arrested for causing a disturbance. Once in custody the male’s demeanor changed and he calmed down and was apologetic. The male was provided a ride to his hotel and released to sleep off the effects of alcohol.

On January 1, 2104 McBride RCMP attended a single vehicle collision after a pick-up truck struck a moose 20 km east of McBride. Neither of the occupants were injured and were transported to McBride by police.

On January 2, 2014 Valemount RCMP responded to a single vehicle collision 10 km south of town on Hwy 5. A vehicle lost control on icy roads when down shifting and over corrected ending up rolling in the ditch. None of the five occupants were seriously hurt in the crash.

On January 2, 2104 McBride RCMP received a report of a stolen safety beacon. The beacon was stolen from the back of a pick-up truck. Police would like to remind everyone to ensure that all of your valuables are secured out of sight and that your vehicle is locked.

On January 3, 2014 McBride RCMP were advised of vandalism overnight. A pick-up truck had a tire slashed. Police believe that this was not a random act and that the vehicle was targeted. Police continue to monitor the situation and have identified a person of interest.

On January 4, 2014 Valemount RCMP conducted a road check at Allen Creek to check snowmobiles to ensure that were registered and not stolen. Some of the sleds were unregistered and the owners were provided information on how to properly register their sleds.

On January 4, 2014 McBride RCMP responded to a disturbance at a local residence. The issue at hand was a civil dispute between two parties and police attended to keep the peace. The parties separated and both were advised that if they could not reach a resolution on their own the matter may have to be taken to Land Lord Tenants Board or Civil Court.

On January 5, 2014 Valemount RCMP stopped a vehicle for speed. The vehicles insurance had expired and the driver, a 28-year-old Red Deer male, was issued a violation ticket for no insurance in the amount of $598 and his vehicle was towed.

On January 5, 2014 McBride RCMP received a report of an abandoned snowmobile on Belle Mountain. Search and Rescue was activated and a helicopter was secured. The missing male was located skiing in the back country and was ok. He had parked his snowmobile and was hiking up the mountain.
