Valemount RCMP continue to investigate a motor vehicle collision that has claimed the life a 19-year-old female driver from Alberta.

On November 12th around 10:40 am Valemount RCMP were called to the scene, located on Highway 5 near Bone Creek, some 55 km south of Valemount BC.

Officers confirmed the lone female driver of a Pontiac was deceased. Police say evidence suggested the Pontiac was traveling south when it lost control on the icy roads and slid into an oncoming BC Hydro truck. The driver of the Hydro truck was uninjured.

North District Integrated Collision Reconstructionist Services (ICARS) were called to the scene and Highway 5 was closed in both directions until the evening, causing long delays for traffic.

BC Coroner Services, RCMP and Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure contine to investigate the incident and have spoken to a number of witnesses who were at the scene. Police are asking any additional witnesses who have yet to come forward, to please contact the Valemount RCMP at (250) 566 – 4466.
