McBride will be rolling out the white carpet to about 200 sledders January 18th-19th, during the Snow and Mud online forum’s annual “Mountain Mania” event.

Sledders travel from all over Western Canada to take part in the only official face-to-face meeting of the forum.

The site, based in Edmonton, boasts more than 36,000 members from all over the world who visit the site for information and discussion on snowmobiling and ATVing.

The McBride Big Country Snowmobile Association will be hosting the event in McBride. Friday evening will be a meet and greet party in the Robson Valley Community Centre. Saturday evening will be a banquet, dinner and dance, once again at the community centre.

Snowmobile Association President Al Miller says all they need now is “lots of snow.”

Tickets will be on sale starting Oct 26th at the Edmonton Snowmobile Show and then will be sold at various locations for $35 each. The McBride Big Country Snowmobile Association held its AGM on October 3 rd. Al Miller was re-elected President, Wade Franke was re-elected Vice President, Evelyn Ironside was voted in as Secretary, and Leona Eyben as Treasurer.

For the second year, the club has put together an advertising brochure to send to the Snow Show in Edmonton Oct. 26 &27th to advertise direct-benefit local businesses including motels, B&B’s, and restaurants, among others.

Miller says the club is hoping for another big year like last year. More than 11,000 trail passes were sold last season from Dec. 1st 2011 to March 30th, 2012.
